Sena Minister Accuses AIMIM Corporator Of Double Standards

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Maharashtra minister Sanjay Shirsat on Tuesday slammed AIMIM corporator Matin Patel, accused of abetting the Nashik TCS’ forced conversion through sexual harassment case, accusing Nida Khan of employing “double standards”.

Nida Khan was arrested on May 7 from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in central Maharashtra, and police claimed that Patel had provided shelter to her.

On May 9, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation issued a notice to Patel regarding allegations of “illegal” construction in the city and sought an explanation from him within 72 hours. The statement stated that if no response is received from Patel, the company has the authority to decide the fate of the house.

A leader of the All India Majlis E Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) had earlier said that Patel would move the court over the issue.

Targeting AIMIM and his company, Shirsat told reporters: “Nida Khan was allegedly staying at Matin Patel’s house with her relatives. The municipality has issued a notice to her. Matin and his men, on the one hand, say that this house does not belong to them, and on the other hand, they are planning to approach the court against the company. This shows their double standards.”

The social justice minister appealed to the civic body to take action in the rape case, claiming that the notice period has expired.

Shirsat alleged that Nida Khan was merely a “paid worker” and was involved in a political party’s conversion racket.

He also targeted AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, who said it was wrong to link his party to the TCS case involving Nida Khan and claimed that Nida Khan’s innocence will be proven in court.

“Owaisi is a lawyer, doesn’t he know the law? An accused can be punished in court but at the same time the accused cannot be released,” he said.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Nashik police is investigating nine cases of harassment and harassment at the TCS Nashik unit.

Khan is accused of targeting employees in a WhatsApp group and pressuring them to pray and eat non-vegetarian food. According to the FIR, he also allegedly advised female employees to dress and behave in accordance with Islamic traditions.

TCS has stated that it has long adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of harassment and pressure and employees who were allegedly involved in sexual harassment at its Nashik office have been suspended.

Meanwhile, Shirsat backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for austerity, saying previous governments had done the same.

“There is no need for the opposition to turn Prime Minister Modi’s call into such an issue. The Prime Minister made this call considering the possible problems in the country. What he said applies to everyone, from ministers to ordinary people. Such calls were made by previous governments as well.”

Emphasizing that the center is trying to protect people from the negative effects of the West Asian conflict, Prime Minister Modi called for rational use of fuel, postponing gold purchases and foreign travel, among other measures to strengthen the economy. PTI AW GK
