Airlines report 183 tech faults in aircraft this year: Govt

New Delhi, July 28 (PTI) Indian Airlines reported 183 technical errors on aircraft this year, while last year, technical problems decreased by about 6 percent.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation also reported to Rajya Sabha that Air India Airplane Craft was released on June 12, and the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) developed the control and examination of the critical component of security security to identify and correct systemic problems.

Air India’s Boeing 787-8 aircraft fell in Ahmedabad on June 12, a total of 260 people died when it fell shortly after departure. The plane was flying to London Gatwick.

183 technical errors were reported by the airlines until July 23 this year. The census was less than 448 in 421 in 2024 and in 2023.

The number of technical problems reported in 2022 is 528 and in 2021.

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu in a written reply, “the last 5 years (until June 2025) reported a total of 2,094 investigations against serious defects/snags.” He said.

Civil Aviation State Minister Murlidhar Mohol, with a written answer, technical errors in flights decreased by 6 percent in 2024 compared to 2023, he said.

According to Naidu, DGCA has a comprehensive and configured civil aviation arrangements that aircraft work safely and maintenance.

“These regulations are constantly updated and compatible with the Standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)/European Union Aviation Security Agency (EASA).

“After the win, the DGCA has improved the control and examination of the critical component of security safety to identify and correct systemic problems.” He said.

Meanwhile, this year, DGCA and 3,925 passengers were presented and the number was 4,016 in 2024.

According to the data provided in the written answer of Naidu, the number of passenger complaints made with DGCA in 2023 5.513, 2022 more than 3,782 complaints and 2021 4,131 complaints filed.
