Brady Tkachuk is a Florida Panther, and in Ottawa, the city where he played for eight seasons, fans are eager to swap Tkachuk jerseys with someone who wants to play for the Senators.
If you are willing to pay 60% for your new jersey, the team will be happy to oblige.
And that’s just a bad look.

The Senators announced the endearingly named “Chuk Out the Old Jersey” event at the team store at the Canadian Tire Centre. All fans have to do is bring their officially licensed Fanatics branded Brady Tkachuk sweatshirt and — at work! — You can benefit from a 40% discount on new products.

But this is when teams trade exactly 1-for-1.
This just comes off as weak sauce.
For starters, it has to be a Fanatics jersey. These have only become available starting from the 2024-25 season. If you bought an Adidas Tkachuk jersey from the previous six seasons, that’s too bad. There’s no 40% discount on regular priced items for you.

Heck, unless you have a severe BO problem, a two-year-old jersey will still have that new sweater smell.

Come on, Senators! I understand why fans are upset about Tkachuk leaving (I also understand why he might want to leave), so throw them a bone and print them a brand new Tim Stützle sweater as a thank you for sticking with the franchise through thick and thin.
And over the years it has been through thick and thin.
