Strong winds caused a major incident in Malvern; A large tree fell, hitting both the tram and the back of a nearby car.
The driver of the car, Michelle, said that she and her daughter were uninjured.
High winds caused a tree to fall on a tram near Cabrini hospital in Malvern.
“I was driving, passing the tram at a red light, and I heard an explosion from the back seat,” he told ABC Radio Melbourne.
“I stopped and saw a tree branch coming through the back window of the car…my daughter was in her booster seat so I ran outside to see if she was okay.”
The incident occurred on Wattletree Road outside Cabrini Hospital. Emergency services are currently at the scene.

Wattletree Road remains closed in both directions between Kooyong Road and Tooronga Road as crews work to clear the area.
Motorists are advised to use the High Street north or Dandenong Road south as alternative routes.
