Seven-member SIT formed to probe assassination attempt on NC chief Farooq Abdullah

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Police has constituted a seven-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the recent assassination attempt on former chief minister and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah during a marriage ceremony here.
Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti directed that the SIT be set up considering the “seriousness and sensitivity” of the case.
On Wednesday night, Abdullah miraculously escaped when a gunman opened fire on him from behind as he was leaving a marriage ceremony at the Royal Park Banquet Hall in the Greater Kailash district.
The 63-year-old accused, identified as Kamal Singh, was subdued and arrested on the spot. The gun used in the incident was seized from the person.
