Shanice Brookes murder: Man denies killing mother-of-one shot dead outside bar
A man will appear in court next year after denying he killed the mother of a child who was shot outside a pub.
Jemele Rhone, 30, is accused of murdering Shanice Brookes, 30, who was shot near the One Four One pub in West Street, Sheffield, shortly before 2.45am on May 25.
Ms Brookes was described by police as an “innocent bystander”.
Rhone, of Outram Road, Sheffield, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday where he pleaded not guilty to murder.
He also denied wounding another person with intent and criminal possession of money.
Rhone pleaded guilty to a gun possession charge.
All expenses related to the same day.
Rhone attended the hearing via video link from prison and wore a face mask; He was asked to remove this mask while confirming his name and defending himself against the accusations.
Judge Jeremy Richardson KC set the trial date for January 18, 2027 at an earlier hearing.
Rhone’s co-defendant Deiryen Dyce, 32, of Ellesmere Road North, Sheffield, also appeared in court on Monday.
He pleaded not guilty to assisting an offender, possession of ammunition, possession of cannabis, cocaine and crack cocaine, possession of criminal property, namely a quantity of cash, and possession of diamorphine with intent to supply.
