Sheffield shooting: Pair charged after woman shot dead outside bar celebrating bank holiday weekend

Two men have been charged over the death of mother-of-one Shanice Brookes, who was shot dead outside a city center pub on bank holiday Monday.
Jemele Rhone, 30, has been charged with murder after she was shot dead outside the One Four One pub in Sheffield city center in the early hours of Monday morning, South Yorkshire Police said.
Deiryen Dyce, 32, of Ellesmere Road North, Sheffield, was charged with assisting an offender, possession of ammunition, possession of drugs with intent to supply, possession of drugs and possession of criminal property, police added.
Both will appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court later on Friday.
A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder in Sheffield on Monday has been released and is no longer being treated as a suspect, police said.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “Shanice was a completely innocent bystander who should have been able to enjoy a night out in our city without fear of not returning home safely.
“Shanice’s family, including her young son, are now faced with the reality that they may never see her again.
“They are suffering the unimaginable loss of their beloved daughters, friends and mothers in the most tragic circumstances. Our thoughts are with them.
“Since the beginning of this investigation, our priority has been to respond to Shanice’s loved ones, and today’s development is an important step in our determination to do so.
“Monday’s incident demonstrated how gun crime destroys families and brings devastation to our communities. We need your help to ensure other families never experience the unthinkable pain and loss that Shanice’s loved ones are now having to come to terms with.”
“We are still appealing for anyone with any information to come forward and speak to us. “This horrific incident occurred on a busy bank holiday weekend when large numbers of people were in the area.
“We would urge anyone with any information that could help us to come forward by contacting South Yorkshire Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.”

Jonathan Storer, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “We would like to remind all those concerned that the proceedings against the defendants are active and they have the right to a fair trial.
“It is vital that there is no reporting, commenting or sharing of information online that could undermine these operations in any way.”
