It didn’t take long for those following the Guthrie case to criticize the sheriff’s department for leaving his last name out of the update, sparking brief hope among those who wanted to see the Guthrie patriarch return home safely.

“Okay, now you’re all acting like jerks on purpose,” one critic wrote in response. “Thank God he was found but COME ON. Can you be tone deaf now???”

Another person said, “You couldn’t possibly have included his last name in this tweet? I thought you were talking about Guthrie for a second.” A third echoed a similar sentiment, stating: “[You] 2 When your Nancy is missing you have to use your last name!!”

A fourth bluntly responded: “Can you be any more tone deaf? Has Nancy been located? You’re just playing us at this point.”

The Guthrie patriarch was last seen on the evening of January 31, when his family dropped him off at his home in Tucson, Arizona, after a dinner and game night. “We continue to believe that Tucsonans and the greater southern Arizona community are the key to finding resolution in this case,” he continued. “Someone knows something. It’s possible that a member of this community may have information they didn’t even realize was important. We hope people will dig into their memories, especially around key timelines like January 31st, in the early morning hours of February 1st and the late evening hours of January 11th.”

The Guthrie family encouraged their mother’s neighbors to “refer to footage, diary notes, text messages, observations.” [and] They assured that “no detail is too small.”

Despite numerous searches, analyzed DNA, alleged ransom notes and more, no one has been arrested or named as a suspect in connection with Nancy’s disappearance.
