Stay home to avoid rape: Gujarat traffic police’s posters spark row; DCP says posters created ‘without their consent’

Ahmedabad traffic police allegedly sponsoring a security campaign, some posters called on women to stay at home to avoid being raped.
Posters affixed to several regions in the city invited criticism from the opposition, asking questions about the security of women in Gujarat.
“Do not participate in parties late at night, raped or gangraped” and “Do not go to dark, isolated areas with your friend, what if it was raped?” Sola and Chandlodia were glued to the road separatists in the regions and have been removed since then.
Police Commissioner Assistant (Traffic West), Neeta Desai, city traffic police, not female safety, not women’s safety, said the sponsor on posters.
Satarkta Group, a NGO, claimed that he created controversial posters without the consent of the traffic police.
“The NGO approached us and said that they wanted to organize traffic awareness programs in schools and colleges and they wanted our staff to accompany them. Posters were shown about traffic awareness. However, such controversial posters were not shown to us and without consent.” He said.
The authority added that the posters were immediately removed when the problem was taken into consideration.
The Gujarat AAM AAM AADMI Party (AAP) shifted to the BJP -led government, saying that posters revealed the situation of women’s security.
“The BJP government in Gujarat is talking about the strengthening of women, but the reality of the ground is completely different. In Gujarat more than five rapes per day more than 6,500 rapes and more than 36 gang rape occurred.” He said.
“Prime Minister and BJP leaders are talking about the security of women, but today in a big city like Ahmedabad, these posters express the reality of Gujarat.
