Shifting Of Tamil Nadu CM’s Office Confirmed

Chennai: Chief Minister C Joseph’s move from the historic Fort St George building to the spacious upper floor of the 10-storey Namakkal Kavignar Maligai on the same campus was confirmed by some officials in the State Government on Monday.

Along with the Prime Minister’s office, the rooms of the Prime Minister’s advisors and secretaries will also be moved to the same floor at Namakkal Kavignar Maligai, turning the facility into a compact, all-in-one Prime Minister’s Office (CMO) with conference and meeting rooms located close to each other.

Various departments of the Information and Public Relations Department, which operates from the 10th floor of the building, will be moved to the Kalaivanar Arangam premises, where some offices are already located, and work on this move has already started.

Rumors about the switch have been doing the rounds in official circles for a while now and gossips said that one of the reasons for the switch was obedience to Vastu. Reasons cited for the change include that the Prime Minister’s office needs to be spacious as it will attract a regular flow of visitors, from senior political executives to diplomats and business leaders.
