Shivamogga MP demands State govt. to announce ₹1 lakh per hectare as compensation for areca plantations affected by recent rains

Shivamogga MP BY Raghavendra requested the State government to announce assistance of at least Rs 1 lakh per hectare for areca plantations damaged by heavy rains in Bhadravathi taluk.

Addressing a press conference held in Shivamogga on Thursday, Mr. Raghavendra said that heavy rains accompanied by high-speed winds that lashed parts of Holehonnur and Anaveri hoblis on the evening of April 26 caused huge losses to hundreds of farmers. Large areas of mature areca trees were flattened.
