Suspect in 1982 attack on Jewish restaurant in Paris arrested in West Bank

More than 40 years ago, a man who wanted more than a deadly attack on a Jewish restaurant in Paris was arrested by Palestinian officials in the occupied West Bank.

Mahmud Khader Abed Adra, who went under the name of Harb Harb, is suspected of managing the August 1982 weapon and grenade attack on the Jo Goldenberg restaurant in Rue des Rosiers, who killed six people and left at least 20 injured.

The news of the arrest comes just a few days before France plans to officially recognize the Palestinian province.

President Emmanuel Macron said he welcomed the “excellent cooperation” between France and the Palestinian authority in a mission in X.

“We work together to ensure that it is quickly returned.”

The National Anti -Terror Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) said that the arrest of Palestinian officials was informed by Interpol within the scope of the 2015 International Order.

Adra faces terrorist murder and attempts to murder of terrorism.

The prosecution refused to comment on the exact conditions and history of his arrest.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said that it was possible to arrest President Macron with the decision to recognize an independent Palestinian state and made a request for a return.

With France, countries such as Australia, Belgium, England and Canada officially recognize A Palestinian State on Monday before the collection of annual leaders in the UN General Assembly – a strongly objected movement by Israel and many French Jews.

He is suspected that Adra is led by the attack and operates as one of the armed men who fired Diners.

To date, no one has been punished for the attack on 9 August 1982, mainly in the Jewish Marais neighborhood, at Rue des Rosiers.

In July, French judges ordered the trial of six people, including ADRA, for murder and attack at a special terrorist court for the historical attack.

Another suspect Abu Zayed was returned in France with another suspect from Norway. It is believed to be hidden in Jordan and West Bank.

At the beginning of next year, a hearing is expected, three of the six defendants are expected to be available and others are called absenteeism.

ADRA is believed to be a member of the opposition Palestinian Fraction Abu Nidal Group, which was active in the 1970s and 80s.

The group left Arafat’s Palestinian Liberation Organization and is accused of a series of violent attacks that killed at least 900 people in the world.

Macron added to his tweet: “France does not forget. It always forces and punishes. Justice will prevail.”

Yohann Taïeb, a spokesman for some of the victims of the attack, said that it was “an important step” in X, and urged Macron to secure Adra’s refund as “as quickly as possible”.
