Siddaramaiah Inaugurates Collins India Operations Centre in Bengaluru

BENGALUR: The Collins India Operations Centre, developed by Collins Aerospace, at the Aerospace Park at Devanahalli near the city of Bengaluru on Tuesday was inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the presence of Collins Aerospace Senior Vice President Roy Gullickson. This is Collins Aerospace’s first facility set up in India under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and will serve leading global aerospace companies such as Boeing and Airbus.

Collins Aerospace is investing approximately US$ 25 million in Karnataka, aiming to create more than 2,000 skilled jobs in research, development and advanced manufacturing in the coming years.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that Karnataka contributes about 65 percent to India’s aerospace and defense sector, and world-class aerospace and defense parks have been established in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Belagavi, Tumakuru and Chamarajanagar districts.

He also said that more than 2,000 small and medium enterprises are operating in the aerospace and defense sectors across the state and companies such as Mahindra Aerospace and Rangsons have made significant investments in the aerospace industry. Rangsons is investing Rs 2,915 million in partnership with Boeing and as many as 48 deals have been signed in the aerospace and defense sectors.

Exuding confidence in attracting major investments in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah said the State has attracted investments worth Rs 45,000 billion and aims to create around 60,000 jobs in the next five years.

Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil described Collins Aerospace’s investments in Karnataka as a “milestone in line with the State Government’s long-term vision for the aerospace and defense sector”.

Patil stated that India’s aerospace market is projected to become the third largest market in the world by 20232 and companies like Collins Aerospace will play a significant role in achieving this and the Minister said that officials of the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board and Karnataka Udyog Mitra responded quickly to Collins Aerospace in providing all necessary approvals, infrastructure and support for setting up and operationalizing the manufacturing unit.
