Sigachi temporarily suspends production at Hyd unit for 90 days after fire incident

New Delhi, June 30 (PTI) Sigachi Industries on Monday, a fire incident that led to the death of several workers in the Haydarabad factory, production, affected equipment and structures will pause about 90 days, he said.
In addition to the human effect, the event also damages some auxiliary equipment and civil structures within the facility.
TELANGANA Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha said on Monday that at least 12 people were killed and 34 people were injured in a explosion at the Sigachi Industries factory in this region.
The company in the stock exchange file, “… June 30, 2025, 9:30 at 9:30 (IST), Pashamylaram, Phase -1, a fire incident occurred near our Haydarabad factory in Medak Region.”
“The event unfortunately caused the loss of human life and may be individuals who continue to injure. The exact number of injuries is currently confirmed, while the welfare of our staff continues to be our most important priority.”
A comprehensive assessment of the situation is currently continuing and the company coordinates with the relevant authorities to ensure that all security and support protocols are followed.
“Although the core manufacturing infrastructure is damaged, the facility operations will be temporarily paused for a period of 90 days to facilitate the replacement and restoration of affected equipment and structures.” He said.
The company operates three production facilities for the cellulose (MCC), one of which is the Hydarabad unit where the incident took place.
The unit contributes approximately 6,000 mtpa from the total operating capacity of 21,700 MTPA and contributes with the production of balance from our two other facilities in Gujarat.
The company said that the other two plants continue to work normal and that they were efforts to optimize production from these units during the interim period.
“Haydarabad facility is completely insured and we are in the process of initiating the necessary demands according to standard procedures. We are determined to continue operations by focusing on the earliest, security, risk reduction and operational excellence.”
