SIT Names 25 In Its Final Chargesheet

The indictment names 25 accused, including Jogi Ramesh and main operator Addepalli Janardhana Rao. It was also stated that 89 witnesses were also listed.
According to the SIT, the case pertained to an organized illegal network engaged in the production and distribution of spurious liquor, allegedly aimed at defaming the alliance government in the state.
SIT alleged that Accused No. 1 Janardhana Rao was manufacturing spurious liquor with the support of former minister Jogi Ramesh and both of them were making huge profits through its production and supply.
The indictment also alleged that Jogi Ramesh gained politically and financially by working with Accused No.1.
The role of some other key persons is still being investigated, the SIT said.
Former minister Jogi Ramesh and his brother Jogi Ramu were arrested earlier in the case and were released on bail after staying in jail for about 83 days.

Worker dies after falling from construction site in Tirumala

A 35-year-old laborer died after falling from a three-storey building in Tirumala late on Monday night.

The incident took place near Avadhoota Datta Peetham while the workers were doing repair work on the water tank. Police said the man accidentally slipped and fell from the building and suffered serious injuries.

He was immediately transferred to Sri Venkateswara Ramnarain Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Manikandan, a native of Vaniyambadi in Tirupattur district of Tamil Nadu. Tirumala police have registered a case and investigation is ongoing.

Tirupati police recovered 500 lost mobile phones

Tirupati district police recovered 500 lost and stolen mobile phones worth around $1 billion during the 14th phase of the Mobile Recovery Mela conducted under the Central Equipment Identity Registration (CEIR) initiative.

Superintendent of Police L. Subba Rayudu returned the recovered phones to the victims at a program held here on Tuesday. He said the district police have so far recovered 4,785 mobile phones worth around Rs 10.52 crore during the 14 phases of the recovery drive.

He said the police were using the CEIR portal, a Central Government service that allows users to report lost or stolen phones online without visiting police stations.

Subba Rayudu said people who lost their phones can access CEIR services by sending “Hello” to WhatsApp number 9490617873 to get the portal link and guidance to file a complaint. He explained that once a complaint is registered, the IMEI number of the lost phone can be blocked, thus preventing the phone from being used anywhere in the country and helping the police track the device more effectively. He said that after recovery, the phone can be unblocked later through the same portal.

The SP said Tirupati police seized mobile phones not only from AP but also from Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra. He advised people to immediately block their SIM cards after losing their mobile phones, use strong passwords on devices and payment apps, and avoid buying phones from people they do not know.

Two people died in a traffic accident in Adoni

Two people lost their lives in a traffic accident that occurred when a Bolero type vehicle collided with a motorcycle in Adoni of Kurnool district. 4 people were injured in the accident.

According to police, the victims were returning from Karnataka after attending a relative’s funeral when the accident occurred. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the accident. The bodies of those who lost their lives were taken to Adoni State Hospital for autopsy. The victims have not yet been identified.

It may be recalled that just a month ago, four people from Karnataka lost their lives in a road accident that occurred on the outskirts of Adoni. The reoccurrence of such events created anxiety among citizens.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on, police said.

He killed his father for his pension

In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his father over a dispute over pension in Pedabayalu mandal in Alluri Sitharama Raju district.

According to police, the incident took place late on Monday night in Velupalem village under Seekari panchayat limits. It was stated that the deceased was Lakeyi Simhachalam (60), who worked as an agricultural worker with his wife Neelamma.

Police said an argument broke out between Simhachalam and his son Ramesh over pension on Monday evening. It was alleged that during the argument, the suspect attacked his father with a stick and hit his head, killing him at the scene.

Hearing the noise, local residents rushed to the scene. However, the suspects escaped before they could reach them.

The police came to the village upon notice and started an investigation.

Circle Inspector Lakshman Rao said the accused was serving prison sentence in connection with the murder of his wife about five years ago and had recently returned to the village.

The body was sent to the government hospital in Munchingput for autopsy.

The police launched an investigation into the incident and started working to catch the suspect, who is still on the run.
