Six Sikh Couples Marry at Mass Wedding Ceremony in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Six Sikh couples got married in a mass wedding ceremony held at Gurudwara Baram Bala in Kishanbagh on Sunday. Samuhik Vivah Samagam was organized under the guidance of the gurudwara’s Prabhandak Committee to support economically distressed families who cannot afford expensive weddings. Most of the brides and grooms were from Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Maharashtra and nearby areas.
Many parents said they never imagined their children would marry in such a traditional and dignified way, without financial burdens. The marriages were held free of charge, with organizers making arrangements for accommodation, meals and wedding ceremonies. Religious leaders of Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib attended the ceremony and blessed the couples.
Prabhandak Committee chairman Chetan Singh Shikari, secretary Rajbeer Singh, chairman Harbans Singh and advisor Iqbal Singh said the initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on families as many weddings today involve expenses running into several lakhs of rupees. Various gurudwara committees and community organizations also gifted household items to the newlywed couples to help them start their new life.
