Angelina Jolie visits border crossing to Gaza Strip

American actress Angelina Jolie visited the Egyptian side of the Rafah border gate in the Gaza Strip.

He visited the Egyptian Red Crescent to get an overview of the ongoing relief work along the closed coastline, sources within the organization said on Friday.

Jolie was accepted by the regional governor who accompanied her on her trip.

Arab media reported that a representative from the US State Department was also present.

It was later reported that Jolie helped transport relief supplies to the Gaza Strip in a symbolic gesture and expressed her gratitude for Egypt’s efforts.

He also praised the important role played by volunteers and staff in the efficient distribution of relief goods despite numerous challenges.

He is expected to go to the hospital in nearby Al Arish in the evening.

According to Egyptian sources, he plans to meet injured Palestinians in the Gaza Strip there.

Jolie served as special envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for many years.

He continues to visit conflict and crisis areas around the world to draw attention to the suffering of civilians.

Rafah is the only border crossing in the Gaza Strip that does not lead directly to Israel.

The pass was closed during the war for the region.

Aid organizations have been calling for this place to be opened for a long time.
