Slaughterhouses, Meat Markets To Remain Closed On R-Day

: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has ordered a day-long closure of all slaughterhouses, meat shops and fish markets in the city on January 26 to mark the 77th Republic Day celebrations.
Municipal commissioner Dr. Following the instructions of D. Chandrasekhar, chief medical health officer Dr. K. Arjuna Rao said that all slaughterhouses and meat-related establishments will remain closed throughout the day. As part of the implementation measures, animal slaughter will not be allowed as of Sunday night.
He warned that any violation of the orders, including unauthorized slaughter or sale of meat, chicken or fish, would result in strict legal action.
The civil society has issued clear instructions to wholesale and retail traders dealing in mutton, chicken and fish to ensure complete closure of their businesses. Officials said the move aims to protect the sanctity of Republic Day celebrations and ensure compliance with civil and public health regulations.
VMC appealed to traders and the public to cooperate with the authorities and strictly comply with the orders in the interest of larger public interest.
