Snow forecast LIVE: Met Office names 5 regions at risk of snow as UK set for cold weather | Weather | News

The Met Office explained how snow and ice are possible following recent above-average temperatures.
Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Holley said: “Actually Storm Claudia Southward retreats, high pressure to the northwest, will cause a cold northward flow from the Arctic across the UK.
“This will bring much colder weather conditions than recent days and, although overall drier than recent days, there will also be a risk of winter hazards such as snow and ice.
“Next week there will be widespread frost events across England, where temperatures will drop to minus 7 degrees in some places and daytime temperatures will remain in single figures across the country.
“Combine that with a strong north wind and there will be significant wind chill.”
Mr Holley said this would be a significant change in weather conditions after a long period of above-average temperatures.
He said people should follow the weather forecast in their area as snow and ice warnings may be issued from time to time.
