The UK is bracing for winter weather this week, with sub-zero temperatures and 39 counties facing snow. Tahminciden alınan hava durumu verileri WXCharts.com It shows parts of the UK turning white from Wednesday due to cold air coming in from the Atlantic.
It comes despite warm weather this past weekend, which saw much of the country soaked in sunshine. The Met Office website said: “From Wednesday the weather will feel noticeably colder in all areas, with potentially quite widespread rain, sleet and sleet showers and snow possible in higher elevations in the north. Elsewhere it will be a stormy day and although some sunshine will be available it will feel cold thanks to wind chill.”

“Temperatures will drop overnight – potentially down to -5°C in rural Scotland – with widespread frost overnight for most, with the first frost in the north on Thursday morning.”

Snow will remain in many areas and maps will turn purple to show it’s snowing.
Snowfall will continue in Scotland, Wales, Hampshire and Berkshire until Saturday.
Separately, the Met Office forecast for Thursday said: “Showers, with some wintry rain, will continue overnight over central and later southern parts of England, particularly in the far north and across Wales.

“Otherwise, clear periods will develop and the strong and gusty wind from the northwest will ease. It will turn into frost with icy places.”
For Thursday to Sunday, they added: “Thursday will start out mostly a little sunny. In the north it will gradually become cloudy, wet and windy. Meanwhile, most of England and Wales will remain dry and bright.”
“The rain moves southeast on Thursday night, causing wet weather in the south on Friday. Clearer, colder and showery weather is expected from the northwest ahead of wet and windy weather on Sunday.”
Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster Steven Keates said: “Following mild and bright weather, the UK will become increasingly unsettled over the coming days. A range of weather patterns will bring spells of rain, strong winds and much colder weather by midweek. Wednesday could be a major shock to the system.”
“Temperatures will range from 6°C to 10°C, although wind gusts will be felt in the low single figures in many areas. Showers are likely, particularly in higher elevations in the north, and a widespread frost (including icing for some) is possible on Wednesday night. The weather will be slightly milder by the end of the week, with many areas seeing another round of rain on Friday.”
