Horror as police officer stabbed in broad daylight | UK | News

A police officer who was stabbed in the capital this morning was hospitalized. Emergency services rushed to the scene where they found a police officer stabbed in the hand and arm at an address in Ridley Road, Dalston, at around 10.30am.

The police officer’s hand was also broken during the shocking incident. He was responding to reports of an illness when he was injured. The officer was primarily taken to a major trauma center, where his injuries were assessed to be non-life-threatening and non-life-altering.

The officer was later discharged.

A 62-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and criminal damage. As of publication, he remains in police custody.

This morning’s shock stabbing took place on Ridley Road, a busy market street then bustling with shoppers.

The London Ambulance Service sent multiple resources to the scene and the first paramedic arrived in less than three minutes.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.26am today (November 11) to reports of a stabbing on Ridley Road, E8.

“We deployed resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle. The first paramedic arrived in less than three minutes.

“We treated one patient with stab wounds as a priority and took him to a major trauma center. We evaluated and discharged another person at the scene.”
