Snowden and Adkins target Short turnaround success

Randwick trainer Peter Snowden will look to get back into the winners’ circle when he starts two runners in the Cotter Accountants 2YO Maiden Handicap (1350m) at Wyong on Thursday.
Snowden produced Scuro Star and finished second yesterday at Warwick Farm, ridden by Andrew Adkins, and the jockey and trainer will be reunited at Wyong when Short Sea collided with his stablemate Divine Offering, ridden by Tom Sherry.
Both Divine Offering and Short Sea were placed in city level races on their debut, giving Snowden confidence that both could do well at Wyong.
“Divine Offer is a lovely colt by Written Tycoon and ran really well on his only start at Canterbury and finished third,” Snowden said. “He came back that day and got to the line very strongly in the straight. He pulled wide at Wyong, which isn’t ideal, but the extra distance should suit him.”
Short Sea, a colt by Ole Kirk, made his first start at the Kensington track at Randwick and finished second to Royal Air Force.
“It was only a small field when he made his debut, but he ran home nicely late to move into second,” Snowden said.
“He was also oddly scratched in the Wyong race, but still the extra distance looks in his favour.”
Brad Widdup, who worked under Snowden at Crown Lodge, has a strong hand at Wyong, with two runners clashing with the Snowden pair in the two-year-old event.
Don’t Doubt Frank (Chad Schofield) and Street Jewel (Alysha Collett) are lined up, while Widdup also has Last Tour (Collett) for the Mercure Kooindah Waters Maiden Handicap competition.
Widdup will start the day with two starts at Gosford A/C County Maiden Plate – See Diamond and Southport.
