Snowden chasing maiden win with ex-Godolphin galloper

Local trainer Paul Snowden will rely on a former Godolphin galloper to find immediate success in the stable when Polymer lines up in the opening event in Port Macquarie on Sunday.
Snowden will saddle Polymer in the KSL Concreting Country Boosted Maiden Plate (1000m) with the four-year-old son of Street Boss, who is in the care of James Cummings and then Tony and Calvin McEvoy before arriving at the Snowden stable.
“He is a well-bred son of the Street Boss and comes from the mare Exceed And Excel [Resin]” said Snowden.
“He only had one race start and that was at Swan Hill for the McEvoys and he ran well finishing fifth in that race.
“Ever since Patriot Bloodstock bought him, I’ve been grateful they gave him to me to train.
“He’s a very nice horse and I gave him one barrier trial until Sunday and he did what I wanted when he finished third in the attack at Taree.”
Ben Looker took over the reins on race day while Luke Rolls rode Polymer on his trial.
Rolls will use Home Siren by Cassandra Schmidt, Polymer’s main threat.
Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Home Affairs’ two-year-old mare Home Siren had a trial as she prepared for her first race, finishing second in the Taree race ridden by Rolls.
Meanwhile, Newcastle trainer Kris Lees will be well represented in Port Macquarie as Phil Dykes starts three runners in the Automotive Maiden Handicap (1500m).
Siccius will start at the inside fence alongside William Stanley, while Jean Van Overmeire will partner Risk And Famous and Shannen Llewellyn will manage Pratibha.
Van Overmeire will also ride two other Lees runners at Port Macquarie as she rides Stern Dispute in the MC Dirtwork Benchmark 58 Handicap (1500m) and Chapman rides Chisato in the Mortgage Broker Benchmark 58 Handicap (1200m).
Stern Dispute won one of his four appearances by scoring on his debut at Taree in February. Chisato won her first maiden at the Beaumont circuit in Newcastle as she continued after a spell.
