Soldiers turned to stone by aliens and ‘jellyfish’ UFO in Soviet X-Files | Weird | News

Reports say soldiers were turned into stone pillars (Image: undefined)

A ‘jellyfish’ UFO with changing colored lights hovered over a Russian city for an hour before disappearing in the 1980s.

The strange incident is among newly released Soviet-era files that reveal how officials in the former USSR secretly documented and evaluated mysterious aerial phenomena despite publicly mocking visits to extraterrestrial craft as Western propaganda.

The documents, translated into English and published by journalist George Knapp, cover approximately 70 pages and compile accounts from the 1970s and 1980s.

According to Knapp, the archive was smuggled out of Russia in the early 1990s and only recently became widely available; This gave the public an unusual insight into how Soviet organizations cataloged what they called ‘Anomalous Atmospheric Phenomena’.

One of the most striking records is dated February 13, 1989 and outlines a significant aerial object over Nalchik in southern Russia. Observers claimed that a ‘jellyfish’-like formation remained in the sky for more than an hour before disappearing.

Additional reports include a young man describing bright streaks in the skies and then encountering humanoid beings, according to IBT. Investigators document accounts and details but refrain from verifying what the witness actually experienced.

One prominent incident in Kazakhstan in 1979 involved campers observing tall, dark figures near a forested area. Once again the wording was the same; but no concrete evidence could prove anything concrete.

The records reference observations recorded by members of the public, military personnel, and technical experts, as well as protocols for collecting statements, submitting reports, and evaluating potential disclosures.

Although the documents do not provide conclusive evidence of anything extraterrestrial, they do reveal a systematic attempt to track down cases that cannot be easily categorized into established frameworks.

Numerous records point to terrestrial explanations, such as atmospheric events, equipment malfunctions, and even experimental military aircraft. Some dossiers consider whether certain sightings may be related to alien technology, a pressing concern during the Cold War, or simply unusual natural phenomena.

One of the most famous cases of Russian UFOs occurred in 1993, when state media claimed that the military had shot down an extraterrestrial craft in Siberia using a surface-to-air missile.

According to this claim, five humanoid beings were encountered emerging from the debris. Allegedly, these beings merged into a single glowing sphere, emitting a cataclysmic flash of light and instantly turning 23 nearby soldiers into stone pillars.

The report states that only two witnesses survived the incident and that the resulting limestone remains and debris were transported to a secret research facility near Moscow.

US intelligence officials at the time stated that if these narratives were true, they represented an extremely dangerous threat from advanced extraterrestrial technology.
