Sonakshi Sinha Calls for Stringent Laws to Monitor Online Abuse

Actor Sonakshi Sinha has expressed serious concerns about the increasing trend of online harassment against actors and film critics. “This is a worrying situation and little is being done to regularize it,” Sonakshi said in a recent speech in Mumbai, when she spoke out against the growing culture of unchecked digital abuse; A video that went viral on social media.

Sonakshi pointed out that online attacks are no longer limited to a particular group. “I have a problem with this open attack on people on the internet,” he said, expressing dismay at how easily people resort to abusive behavior behind screens. She further added that the issue affects everyone in the public eye, saying, “what happens with everyone happens with actors also, now with the critics too,” underlining that actors and critics alike are being targeted.

The Dabangg actor said that lack of accountability in the digital space empowers trolls and attackers. According to him, anyone sitting anywhere in the world can say something on the internet without any repercussions. “Anyone can comment from anywhere, and there’s not much people can do about it,” he said, calling the situation extremely unfair and damaging.

Sonakshi also emphasized that this is an issue that cannot be glossed over or addressed in isolation. He called for joint efforts to solve the problem: Society needs to find a common solution to eliminate this toxic culture. For him, awareness alone was not enough.

Calling for stronger legal measures, the actor concluded his remarks by arguing that stricter cyber laws are needed to regulate online behavior. “I feel like we need to have strict laws to control this and keep it in check,” he said, reinforcing the need for accountability and protection in the digital age.
