‘That was the scariest part; While I was in bed in the room, Tara, the anesthesiologist, kept asking ‘is she numb?’ he said. They were spraying me with this cold spray and I could feel it.

‘And then he [their OBGYN] He was like, “We really need to go now.” But it took a long time for my body to become numb.

‘So they were going to spray it, then he said ‘five more minutes’. They would spray me again. “I can still feel it,” I said. Then he said, “We have to go.”

‘I was thinking in my head, I’m just going to say I can’t feel it so they’re going to take the baby out because I don’t care if I can feel it or not, I just wanted him to come out safe. Then they sprayed it and I could still feel it in my breasts but not in my belly. And I said, “I can feel it in my breasts, but not in my belly.” And he said ‘go’.

Jamie said: ‘This was the most emotional thing I’ve ever experienced in my life.’

Over the weekend, Sophie and Jamie left fans in a pickle after transforming into their older selves to announce the return of their joint podcast.

To celebrate their comeback, the duo transformed into older versions of themselves by donning gray wigs, detailed wrinkle prosthetics, gray hair and special makeup for a hilarious and wacky commercial.

In the video, an older Jamie is seen holding the hand of an equally elderly-looking Sophie as she lies in a hospital bed surrounded by photos of their life as a couple.

While many are real snapshots from their wedding day and the birth of their baby son, Ziggy, there are also digitally created elderly photos of the couple, photos of them on the moon and one of a newspaper announcing Jamie as Prime Minister.

Old Jamie later told his wife: ‘I still can’t believe we did this. What a journey we have had. You know what I’m thinking. There’s one thing I really regret. That we’re not bringing the podcast back again.’
