South Australia’s anti-abortion bill and One Nation’s influence

The South Australian Parliament will soon vote on another anti-abortion bill; This will be the third in a year and a half. Despite two previously rejected anti-abortion bills in 2024 and 2025, this is the most extreme legislation proposed in the state so far. The dizzying rise of One Nation also had an impact on the upper house.
The bill, which will be voted on on June 17, would allow abortion after 25 weeks only if two doctors agree that the abortion is necessary to save the pregnant person’s life.
