SOUTHCOM strike kills 3 suspected narco-terrorists in Eastern Pacific

The US military launched a deadly attack on a ship in the Eastern Pacific, killing three suspected narco-terrorists, US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said on Tuesday.

The attack, carried out by Joint Task Force Southern Spear under the direction of Commander General Francis L. Donovan, targeted a drug-trafficking vessel operating in known drug trafficking corridors.

No U.S. soldiers were injured in the operation, according to SOUTHCOM.

“Intelligence confirmed the ship was transiting known drug smuggling routes in the Eastern Pacific and was involved in drug smuggling operations,” command wrote to X. “Three male narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No US military forces were harmed.”

SOUTHCOM did not immediately release further information about those killed.

The US military has launched several attacks on ships suspected of drug smuggling in recent months as part of a broader campaign to dismantle cartel-linked smuggling operations.

The announcement comes a day after SOUTHCOM said it carried out a similar attack in the Caribbean on Monday, killing two suspected drug traffickers.

Previously, on April 24, SOUTHCOM launched a deadly attack on a suspected drug-smuggling ship in the Eastern Pacific, killing two suspected narco-terrorists.

This attack comes less than a week after SOUTHCOM announced an operation in the Caribbean that killed three suspected narco-terrorists.
