Spanish authorities fear that four people found dead in a vehicle are British.

Antonio Sanz Cabello, head of Andalusia’s emergency agency, said authorities urged residents to stay in their homes and that the deaths occurred after some people tried to escape the forest fire with their vehicles.

He said four people were killed in a car and that the vehicle looked British because it had right-hand drive.

Mr Cabello said: “Everything points to them being from Britain.”

He added that authorities believed the building’s occupants followed a route that was not part of the official evacuation plan, calling the decision to follow an alternative route a “deadly trap.” The nationalities of the victims have not yet been officially confirmed.
