Spender and Steggall’s ‘sensible’ centrism just isn’t going to cut it

This hasn’t been said enough among the chatter about who was on the ship and how bad name and whether they were harmed or not. raison d’être: Bravo to Allegra Spending and Zali Steggall for trying something new.
Australian politics is at a moment of great upheaval, with decades-old parties collapsing and other parties rising (Angus Taylor’s message was “change or die”) delivered and ignored). There are good reasons to create a party vehicle: changes to the Labor/Coalition charity law have made it deliberately harder for independent companies to compete, while a party is almost entirely needed to win in the Senatewhere the “community-independent” movement could win seats in several states with its united vote.
