St Louis Airport bomb threat as flight forced into emergency landing | World | News

A plane that had to make an emergency landing following a bomb threat was evacuated. A United Airlines flight from Dallas (DFW) to Chicago (ORD) – UA380 or UAL380 – Lambert-St. A passenger was later arrested in the attack at St. Louis International Airport (STL) on Sunday morning (November 16) local time.
Airport manager Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge said passengers were evacuated from the plane and were waiting in lounge “B”. He said no injuries were reported. The flight departed Chicago O’Hare International Airport at 6:57 a.m. local time but landed in Lambert around 8:40 a.m., according to Flightradar24’s flight tracking data. Sources told the Post-Dispatch that the arrested man at one point said his wife had a bomb in her trunk. Bomb and arson unit personnel were still searching for the plane as of 10.45am on Sunday, Ms. Hamm-Niebruegge said.
The 26-year-old Boeing 737-700 took off from Dallas Airport’s runway 18L with 119 passengers and five crew members on board and climbed to 39,000 feet. 40 minutes into the flight, the pilots declared a general emergency (squawk 7700).
The flight began to descend and St. It was diverted to St. Louis, where it landed on Runway 29. The plane left the runway but remained stationary on the taxiway for more than two hours before heading to the gate at the airport terminal.
The Express contacted United Airlines for comment, which said: “United Flight 380 from Dallas to Chicago landed safely in St. Louis to address a possible security concern. Law enforcement searched and cleared the aircraft. The flight will continue to Chicago this afternoon.”
It happened just hours after a Jet2 plane circled Merseyside for more than an hour on Sunday afternoon. Flight LS1761 from Manchester Airport to Agadir in Morocco has been seen circling the St Helens and Rainford area several times.
The Boeing 737-800 (registration G-GDFU) stopped the climb at 6,000 feet to enter a holding pattern for two hours. According to the latest travel information from Jet2, the plane was expected to return to Manchester Airport and land there around 14.10.
It would leave Manchester Airport again at 15.15 and land in Morocco at around 20.10 on Sunday.
