According to reports, two suspects were arrested and several people were reported dead following a shooting in Stade, Germany, on Monday. A major police operation was launched in the Lower Saxony city after officers responded to reports of multiple shots fired in the Dankersstraße area.

German newspaper WELT reported that police described the incident as “a murder at a youth welfare centre” and said the victims were adults. Authorities also described the incident as a “dynamic” situation and urged people to avoid the area. Up to five people were killed, German t-online broadcaster reported, citing a police spokesman. German broadcaster RTL, citing police sources, reported that the attack took place in a youth facility, while others reported that the scene was close to the centre. While the reason for the attack is not yet clear, investigations are continuing.
