US military kills 2 in Caribbean strike on alleged narco-trafficking boat

The US military announced Sunday that there was a deadly attack on another ship carrying alleged drug smugglers in the Caribbean, killing two people.

U.S. Southern Command said it carried out a “lethal kinetic attack on a ship operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization” at the direction of Marine Corps Gen. Francis L. Donovan, the leader of Southern Command.

Based on intelligence, the military claimed the ship “traveled through known drug smuggling routes in the Caribbean and was involved in drug smuggling operations.”

In addition to the two men killed in the attack, there were also six men who survived.

“Following the collision, USSOUTHCOM immediately notified the U.S. Coast Guard to activate the Search and Rescue system for survivors,” the Army said.
