Sarah Ferguson ‘in talks to clone Queen’s corgis for TV’ – ‘up for anything for cash’ | Royal | News

Sarah Ferguson was allegedly involved in talks “to clone the Queen’s corgis for reality TV”. The 66-year-old is said to be involved in talks to clone the late Queen’s beloved corgis for a spectacular reality TV show.

Since the late monarch’s death in 2022, Sarah and her disgraced ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have been caring for Muick and Sandy at their former home, Royal Lodge, in Windsor. The plan involved Sarah selling the genetically cloned corgis to “other dog lovers around the world.” Daily Mail reports.

The outlet added that the plan had been described by Hollywood producers as a “bold and controversial business venture”.

A source said: “He was pushing to get back into TV and make some money.

“He came up with the idea of showing the Queen’s corgis in a show. And this included the idea of breeding them. As strange as it sounds, the idea of cloning them was discussed.”

Although animal cloning is not legal in the UK, it is legal to send a skin sample from an animal to the US.

The source close to the negotiations added: “There were Zoom meetings and email exchanges with people on TV. At one point he asked for what he called ‘his team’ to get involved.”

“Sarah seemed up for anything, as long as she was paid – especially if she could do some traveling and meet wealthy aristocrats who might be interested in owning a corgi in the process.”

Eventually the project was abandoned.

According to royal author Richard Fitzwilliams, he said it was “incredibly strange and utterly bizarre to even consider cloning the late Queen’s beloved dogs for financial gain”.

A spokesman for the former duchess said she “never progressed any discussions with Halcyon Studios designed by others and has withdrawn from there voluntarily.”

They added: “She’s always listening to offers on TV but that doesn’t mean she’ll take them up. If she had appeared keen for a short time, that’s exactly what Sarah was. “Sarah never had any intention of making money from corgis.

“He had been thinking about making a TV show about dogs for many years, long before he got Corgis and met Halcyon Studios. He has other breeds of dogs, too. Any resulting show would never be just about corgis.”
