State Department to begin mass layoffs of about 1,800 employees in coming days

On Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the US -based employees will start to leave about 2,000 workers, allowing the Trump administration to progress with collective labor deductions as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to reduce the federal labor force after the last Supreme Supreme Court decision.

The agency’s restructuring plan was first announced by Foreign Minister Marco Rubio to eliminate the functions and offices that the department thought was unnecessary. In February, President Donald Trump issued an executive order that directed Rubio to renew the external service to ensure that the President’s foreign policy is “loyalty”.

Michael Rigas, on Thursday, told to employees with an e -mail, the agency’s “decrease in force” will be informed soon.

Authorized, “All kinds of efforts were made to support our colleagues, including those who have chosen postponed resignation programs… We are expanding our gratitude for your commitment to this restructuring and the commitment to advance the US national interests in the world.”

The department did not specify how many people would be fired on Thursday, but in the congress plans sent in May, 18,000 estimated local labor force proposed to quit about 1,800 employees. It was estimated that 1,575 had more postponed resignation.

Congress plans did not specify how many of these workers would be from public service and how many of them would be from the external service, but more than 300 offices and offices of the department would be fluent, united or eliminated.

After informing the affected personnel, the episode “will enter the final stage of the restructuring and focus on giving attention-oriented diplomacy,” said Rigas, in the e-mail to his colleagues.

Expectation is that the termination starts as soon as possible on Friday.

Tammy Bruce, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is that the only reason for a delay in the implementation of force reductions in the early hours of Thursday, as the courts in the early hours of Thursday, is that the courts come into play.

“There was a delay due to courts, not for our interests, Bru said Bruce. “It was difficult when you know you had to do something for everyone’s benefit.”

“When it is too big to commit something, it is very bureaucratic, in fact it has to change to function and to present projects or action,” he said.
