State funding for pension expenditure of universities hiked to 70%, says Minister

Higher Education Minister M C Sudhakar said that to address the issue of rising pension liabilities in State universities, the State government has increased the funding support for retirement from 50% to 70%.

Speaking at the 75th annual convocation of Karnatak University in Dharwad on Thursday, Dr. Sudhakar said that to reduce the burden on the university, a revised regulation has been made under which the State government will bear 70% of the pension expenses and the universities will have to mobilize the remaining 30% through internal resources.
