State Govt Made Unprecedented Arrangements for Medaram Jatara

Hyderabad:Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the state government has made unprecedented arrangements for Sammakka-Saralamma maha jatara from Wednesday and it is expected to attract more than 1.25 crore devotees. He said the Congress government has reconstructed and redeveloped the Medaram temple complex in a way that it remains historic.
In a statement to the media on Tuesday, Revanth Reddy greeted people on the occasion of Jatara and described tribal deities as symbols of self-respect and courage. He urged devotees to celebrate Medaram Maha Jatara, the world’s largest tribal festival, often referred to as “Telangana Kumbh Mela”, in a grand and spiritually uplifting manner.
He said the four-day festival, which has its roots in tribal and Adivasi traditions and customs, should be celebrated as a divine celebration of forest goddesses.
For the first time, a large amount of funds were allocated for the reconstruction of the tomb and its surroundings. With an expenditure of ₹250 crore, the temple buildings were expanded and the gaddelus of Goddesses Sammakka, Saralamma, Govindaraju and Pagididda Raju were built on a larger scale. He said that Sammakka-Saralamma Gaddelu area has been modernized in accordance with tribal traditions and customs and large torans have been erected in all four directions.
Revanth Reddy stated that special emphasis has been given to strengthening roads and creating permanent infrastructure to ensure smooth movement and safety of lakhs of people who constantly visit Medaram. He said the government has taken the responsibility to preserve tribal culture, heritage and traditions and preserve the traditions of Adivasi communities on a priority basis.
Recalling the inspiration received from the goddesses, the Prime Minister said that the people’s government emerged as a result of a democratic struggle inspired by the spirit of Sammakka and Saralamma. He noted that for the first time in the history of the state, a Cabinet meeting was held in Medaram recently. He said that the message given by Sammakka and Saralamma that one should be ready to sacrifice even one’s life for the people will continue to inspire the government to dedicate itself to the development of the state.
The Prime Minister said that all arrangements have been made to conduct the four-day festival in a grand and orderly manner. He ensured that all units worked in close coordination to ensure that the pilgrims did not experience any victimization. He spoke to senior officials from the United States over the phone and instructed them to take all necessary steps to provide impeccable facilities to devotees.
He appealed to tribal communities, Adivasis and devotees from all states to pray devotedly, observe vows and take holy baths at Jampanna Vagu. He urged the pilgrims to cooperate with the authorities and ensure that no untoward incidents occur during the jatara.
