US Pauses Worker Visas For Commercial Truck Drivers After Deadly Florida Crash | India News

On Friday, the United States immediately announced a pause by giving workers visas for commercial truck drivers, referring to increasing road safety risks and threats to domestic truck business.

This announcement was made by Foreign Minister Marco Rubio in an article on X.

“Immediately valid, we pause the expulsion of all workers’ visas for commercial truck drivers. The number of foreign drivers running large tractor trailer trucks on the US roads endangers American lives and reduces the livelihood of American trucks.”

Florida traffic accident

The movement comes after a deadly accident that demands three lives in Florida on August 12th. The driver, which was defined as the National Harjinder Singh in India, was later convicted for entering the United States illegally.

Singh was arrested in California. Inspectors said he used a commercial truck with a trailer in Florida Turnpike in Fort Pierce while trying to make an illegal U -turn. The trailer was turned upside down and collided with a minibus and killed all three inhabitants.

The Federal Motor Carrier Security Administration launched an investigation into the deadly highway accident in Florida. Harjinder Singh, a undocumented immigrant with a truck, was transferred to Florida to confront reckless driving charges that resulted in the death of three people.

Row on Florida Traffic Accident

Tragedy directed the debate on migration, work permits and driver licenses given by the state for immigration, work permits and undocumented immigrants.

Shortly after the incident, on August 18, DHS Deputy Secretary Tricia McLughlin criticized the governor of California for giving illegal aliens for commercial driver licenses.

“Secretary Noem and DHS work at any time of the day to protect the public and to remove this illegal foreigners from America,” McLughlin said in a mission in X. He said.

The case also increased the political tensions between California Governor Gavin Newsom and Federal officials. Newsom’s office claimed that Singh’s work permit was approved during the Trump administration. However, internal security secretary Ticia McLughlin rejected it and announced that Singh’s application was rejected in 2020 and later approved under the Biden administration.
