Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver DK Metcalf attacked a fan in the stands at Ford Field during the team’s game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
The CBS broadcast captured the intense moment.
During the interaction, the two exchanged words before Metcalf emerged trying to grab the fan’s blue wig. He then threw a closed fist into the fan towards his face, although it appeared to miss him.

Metcalf was not ejected because officials did not see the altercation, but ESPN reported that the NFL will review the incident.
While Metcalf will almost certainly face league discipline, whether he is suspended will be the biggest question for a Steelers team that is in the midst of a playoff hunt.

Metcalf is quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ favorite wideout. Entering the game, Metcalf had thrown for 808 yards and six touchdowns on 55 catches this season.
Heading into the game, the Steelers held a one-game lead in the AFC North at 8-6, while the Baltimore Ravens were right behind them at 7-7. The Ravens will face the New England Patriots on Sunday night, but they’re probably ready to see what happens in Pittsburgh in Detroit.

Given the current AFC playoff picture, the Steelers’ best chance of making the postseason is to win the division, and having all impact players on the field for the remaining games is crucial to achieving that goal.
Metcalf knows he shouldn’t be interacting with fans this way, but his actions could have some serious consequences depending on how the league views them.
