Stellantis NV (STLAM, Financials) Recalls nearly 113,000 cars in the US This comes after federal security regulators flagged a potential engine risk malfunction or fire.

Although the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration did not elaborate on the specific mechanism behind the problem, it suggested that debris discovered inside the engines could be the cause. The recall affects certain 20232025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE and 20242025 Jeep Wrangler 4XE plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Regulators said a sudden loss of power could increase the risk of a crash, while an engine fire could lead to injuries. Stellantis has not yet identified a solution but said it is working with NHTSA and will contact affected owners when repairs become available.

This is the third major security measure the automaker has implemented in recent months. In early November, Stellantis recalled nearly 375,000 Jeep SUVs due to fire risks and told owners to park outside. A month ago, it had towed nearly 300,000 vehicles due to a possible rollover issue.
