Stranger Things star breaks silence on ex-wife’s album West End Girl

David Harbor broke his silence about his ex-wife Lily Allen’s album for the first time, stating that “the stories are complicated.”

On the 2025 album, Allen described the collapse of his marriage to Harbour, saying after the album’s release that he “wanted to die” during the separation and had to check himself into a trauma clinic.

Discussing the allegations of extramarital affairs and emotional manipulation detailed in the album, the actor said: “It was weird. I believe it is every artist’s privilege to use their experiences to create art, and so I respect him for doing that.”
“I can’t say more because this is my private life. Even though many people don’t give me a private life – I value it. I also value the lives of the people I interact with privately. I won’t talk about it.”
Speaking last year, Allen insisted there were “lots of good things” in his relationship with Harbour, and said his daughters from his first marriage, Ethel and Marnie, “had a wonderful experience living in America for five years”.
“I have a lot of compassion for my ex-husband. I think we’re all suffering,” she added.
In the album’s title track, the singer describes a phone conversation between a husband and wife from the other side of the Atlantic who said she wanted to start their marriage while he was working in London.

“I think a lot of people have a friend, sibling, or co-worker who deals with their mental health, and when that person gets depressed, manic, or has a breakdown, they’re probably pretty confused.”
The stated that his “abilities” were “linked” to mental illnesses, saying: “In times of extreme stress, this can lead to slightly erratic behavior and that is embarrassing and I am ashamed of it.
“This is not something I chose and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I think for some of us, our abilities are inextricably linked to our illnesses.
