“We want consumers to have quality food. A sustainable model for years, what France has presented as the largest in the world. France joined a day to protest the EU-Mercosur Free Trade Agreement, planned by agricultural unions, South American countries and US tariffs, including Jeunes Agricultures (young farmers).

French farmers are afraid that a Mercosur agreement will bring more beef, chicken, sugar and corn than Brazil and Argentina, and use pesticides and growth antibiotics in crops in banned animals in Europe.

The European Commission submitted the EU’s trade agreement with South America’s Mercosur block for approval this month, and seemed to soften the opposition of France with possible boundaries on imports of farm products.
