Strayed Tiger Released Back into Papikondalu National Park

Kakinada: The adult male tiger, which entered human habitations two weeks ago, was released back into the wild in Papikondalu National Park (PNP) between Rampachodavaram and Chinturu on Saturday morning as part of Operation Strip.

The tiger was tranquilized after it emerged from the forest area and was taken to Visakhapatnam zoo two weeks ago. After examining his condition, forest officials decided to release him back to the forest after fitting him with a radio collar. However, sources said that forest officials were unable to track the tiger’s movement on Sunday.

They attributed this to the tiger moving out of range. Sources also said that the tiger originally came from the forests in Tadoba. After assessing his condition, the authorities decided to release him in the Papikondalu region, which is more suitable for the wild cat.
