Streamer Hasan Piker claims UK denied his entry over Israel criticism

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The last few days have not been good for Marxist political influencer Hasan Piker.

First, as Fox News Digital exclusively reported last week, the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued an administrative subpoena to Piker seeking financial, logistical and communications records related to his March visit to Cuba as part of an investigation into whether he violated U.S. sanctions laws against doing business with the communist regime that rules the island nation.

Then last night, during protests outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Newark, N.J., scammers confronted Piker and called him a “fuckin’ scammer,” a “fake scammer” and a “dog molester” and told him to “Go back to the desktop.” (Piker denied the allegations that he had his dog Kaya wear a shock collar.)

Now Piker has told his loyal followers on gaming platform Twitch that British authorities have rejected his Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) and prevented him from traveling to the UK for a series of planned appearances, including events at SXSW London and the Oxford Union. Approved US travelers to the UK can enter the country with a simple Electronic Travel Authorization, which is easier than obtaining an official visa.

“I’ve been banned from the UK,” Piker told viewers. “I have been to the UK many times and the things they are complaining about now are all things I have said before.”

He continued: “This is ridiculous.”

Although Fox News Digital was unable to confirm Piker’s claim, such a move by the UK would be significant because it would mark a potential red line drawn by the Western government on the import of extremist ideas and ideological movements that authorities believe could contribute to social unrest, extremism or political violence.

At the end of a lengthy live broadcast, Piker said he had been denied entry due to alleged antisemitism, which he denied, and then lashed out at Jewish organizations he said were campaigning against his visit, claiming they had undue influence over British policy.

“Israel’s advocacy organizations have an incredible amount of power over what even the United Kingdom says and does,” Piker said. “If you are openly anti-Zionist, your travel will be restricted.”

Piker accused the UK government of bowing to pressure from pro-Israel advocacy groups and described the decision as evidence of the increasing crackdown on political dissent in Western democracies.

The comments come weeks after several British Jewish organizations publicly called on the government to block Piker from entering the country, citing statements they described as supportive of antisemitic and extremist groups. Piker said he believed the September 11 attack was justified as a “reaction” to US foreign policy decisions. The Jewish Leadership Council and the Community Safety Foundation argued that Piker’s presence in Britain would not be “in the public interest” and pointed to Piker’s comments about Hamas, Hezbollah, Zionism and Orthodox Jews.

Labor MP David Taylor also called on the Home Office to cancel Piker’s visa ahead of planned shows at SXSW in London, arguing that his rhetoric had contributed to concerns within Britain’s Jewish community.

Piker, who punctuated his commentary on Britain’s decision with deep sighs, expletives and anger at his followers’ suggestions, has repeatedly rejected accusations of antisemitism, saying criticism of Israel was confused with hatred of Jews. He said the decision reflects a broader trend in which governments are suppressing anti-Israel voices.

“This is clearly fascism,” Piker said. “Criticizing Israel while combating anti-Semitism is not a sufficient reason to prevent someone from entering the country.”

The broadcaster said he was planning a week-long trip that would include an appearance with former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis, a live podcast recording and an event at the Oxford Union.

Varoufakis is the co-founder of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit group Progressive International, which Piker believes took him to Cuba on a March aid convoy that may have violated U.S. law. An investigation by Fox News Digital has uncovered allegations that Progressive International and its co-founder David Adler were a critical part of the Cuban Communist Party’s foreign influence operation. Progressive International and Adler did not respond to a request for comment.

The UK government did not respond to a request for comment. However, Interior Minister Şabana Mahmood, who criticized Israeli policies in recent weeks, concluded that the presence of Piker’s uncle and the founder of the “Young Turks”, Cenk Uygur, “would not be in the public interest” and canceled his travel permit.

During the livestream, Piker warned that the UK’s alleged decision could set a precedent for other Western countries, including Australia and Canada, and potentially restrict future travel.

HASAN PIKER names pro-CCP businessman Singham as financier of ‘political movements’ despite non-profit veneer

“I really didn’t think this would happen,” he said. “We’re moving to a very different timeline.”

Piker said he and his team were investigating whether they could apply for a standard visa despite being denied an Electronic Travel Authorization, but admitted it was a long shot.

Piker’s case intersects with a broader investigation into the influence of transnational activist networks operating in the United States. During a livestream this week, Piker said the Treasury Department’s investigation into his trip to Cuba could ultimately focus on Neville Roy Singham, an American Marxist businessman living in Shanghai who financed a network of nonprofits and activist groups that have been the subject of scrutiny from lawmakers and administration officials.

Organizations funded by Singham include CodePink, which received an administrative subpoena from the Treasury Department in March over its participation in the convoy to Cuba, as well as groups such as the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the ANSWER Coalition. All three organizations clearly identify with socialist or communist political traditions and have been leading organizers of anti-Israel demonstrations across the United States since the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel.

Critics charge that some of these demonstrations create hostile environments for Jews in the UK, US and elsewhere, including the use of slogans such as “From the river to the sea”, which calls for the elimination of Israel.

Trump administration officials are investigating groups affiliated with Singham as a transnational network that advances anti-American, pro-China Communist Party and anti-Western narratives while exploiting political and social divisions within the United States.

Lawmakers, Treasury officials and national security analysts are increasingly examining whether such networks help increase polarization, social discord and hostility toward democratic institutions. Meanwhile, at the ICE protest last night, Piker defended groups run by “great” people.

The debate has been particularly fierce in Europe, where governments are grappling with alliances between far-left activists and Islamist organizations that have joined forces around anti-Israel activism and antisemitism. Critics argue that some of these coalitions encourage hostile rhetoric and violence against Jews, leading to increased antisemitism in the UK, just as it does in the US.

Piker, on the other hand, ended his podcast defiantly, angry and seemingly deflated for the moment, repeating “Brother, they banned me from the UK” and finally closing the podcast by saying “I’m done for the day.”
