Student from Hyderabad Drowns While Taking Selfie at Kongala Waterfalls
Hyderabad: An undergraduate student from Uppal accidentally drowned while taking a selfie at Kongala waterfalls in Wazeedu mandal in Mulugu district on Thursday.
Police said K Venkata Naga Sai Murthy (18), an undergraduate student and resident of Ramanthapur in Uppal, had informed his family members that he had to complete the project. The student said that some of his friends came to the house to study together in the attic.
Murthy’s father K Venkat went to the penthouse on Friday morning but failed to notice his son and his friends. He then called his son and informed that he and his friends had arrived at Birla Mandir. A few minutes later, Venkat received a call from his son’s friend stating that they were going on a trip to Kongala waterfalls in Wazeedu.
While Murthy was taking a selfie near the waterfall, he accidentally slipped and fell into the waterfall pool. Murthy drowned because he could not swim. Venkat rushed to CHC Government Hospital in Eturnagaram to collect the body. Following the complaint, the police initiated an investigation by filing a lawsuit under Article 194 of the BNSS.
