Nurse Sells Newborn for ₹1.5 Lakh After Declaring Baby Dead

– Medak: Four people were arrested over the alleged sale of a newborn baby for ₹ 1.5 lakh after the mother was falsely told that the child was dead.

According to the police, Nasra Fatima, a seven-months pregnant woman from Moula Ali in Secunderabad, had traveled to her in-laws’ house in Lakshminagar Thanda of Papannapet Mandal in Medak district. While there, he was attacked by monkeys who noticed a bag of chips in his hand. During the attack, he fell and suffered severe bleeding, after which a friend rushed him to a nearby hospital.

After the surgery, she gave birth to a daughter. However, a nurse identified as Aktari Begum allegedly told the mother that the newborn baby died immediately after birth. Fatima was discharged three days later and returned to Medak five days later.

Dramatically, an unidentified person informed her that her baby was indeed alive. The surprised woman contacted the police and filed a complaint.

During investigation, police found that the nurse handed over the baby to a woman named Nasreen Unnisa, who then facilitated the sale of the baby to a couple from Siddipet (Mohammed Iqbaluddin and Nadia Sultana) for ₹ 1.5 lakh.

Police arrested the nurse, the middleman and the couple who bought the baby. Further investigation is ongoing.
