Govt. fixes five-year maximum tenure for administrative posts under Health Dept. in Greater Bengaluru Area

Following the adoption of Bill 2025 of Karnataka public services (regulation of the transfer of medical civil servants and other personnel), the state government has now envisaged a maximum of five years of office for administrative duties under the health department in the Great Bengaluru region.

This is to prevent overloading, which is a government order (GO) published on Friday, and to provide fair distribution of advertisements to administrative positions, transparent, fair and effective management.

“Following the completion of the five -year term, such civil servants will be transferred to administrative positions outside the GBA or other tasks deemed appropriate by the government, to subsequent general transfers,” he said.

According to the 6 (1) section of the amended law, civil servants who are obliged to transfer from the GBA shall not be suitable for administrative positions within the GBA. This also applies to those who have recently been transferred from the GBA until the completion of the minimum term of office stipulated in their current tasks.

NO SPECIAL APPLICATION

Officers sent to administrative positions shall not be suitable for participating in the private practice. This restriction is designed to provide uninterrupted existence for administrative responsibilities and to prevent conflict of interest between special commitments and public office.

The violation of this situation shall be handled abuse and may invite the disciplinary penalty in accordance with the rules of Karnataka Public Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) of 1957, as well as immediately removed from the administrative position.

Medical experts published in administrative positions should provide expertise services in addition to their administrative duties in addition to not less than six hours a week in the states of the State Region/Taluk hospitals or in any government agency within the positions determined for their expertise services.
