Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Addis Ababa Airport and took him to the Science Museum in the city. Prime Minister Modi arrived in Ethiopia on Tuesday for the second leg of his three-nation visit.
ANI reported that on the way to PM Modi’s hotel, the Ethiopian Prime Minister took a special initiative to take PM Modi to the Science Museum and Friendship Park, which was not included in the itinerary.
The Nobel Prize-winning Ethiopian leader’s unique gestures reflected his deep respect for Prime Minister Modi and the strengthening ties between the two countries.

This is Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Ethiopia and reflects India’s commitment to deepen South-South cooperation and strengthen partnership with Africa.

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Prime Minister Modi received a warm and colorful welcome.

Prime Minister Modi Attended the Traditional Coffee Ceremony
Prime Minister Modi attended the traditional Coffee Ceremony with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy at Addis Ababa airport as an indication of the warm friendship between the two countries.
Prime Minister Modi and his Ethiopian counterpart also had an informal interaction.
India-Ethiopia Ties
India and Ethiopia share a long history of partnership in education, skills and capacity development. India offers scholarships and training opportunities to Ethiopian students and professionals through ITEC and ICCR scholarships.
According to ANI, India continues to support Ethiopia’s renewable energy initiatives through the International Solar Alliance and the International Solar Alliance’s involvement in Ethiopia has made significant progress through various initiatives such as the establishment of the Solar Technology Application Resource Center (STARC) at Addis Ababa University.
Prime Minister Modi will hold one-on-one and delegation-level meetings with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. He will also speak at the joint session of the Parliament.
