Survivor says she lost sight of friend while escaping fire

A survivor of an early New Year’s fire at the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana has told how he lost sight of a friend as he fled the flames.

The young woman said in tears, “I held my friend’s arm, but… I went up the stairs and let go of his arm. He doesn’t answer me anymore.”

Nearly 40 people died and 115 people were injured in the fire.
