Suspects in custody after shooting spree in Austin, Texas, police say

May 17 (Reuters) – Two suspects were taken into custody on Sunday and another remained at large following a dozen shootings this weekend in Austin, Texas, police said.
• Two suspects, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old man, were taken into custody after 12 incidents involving shots fired in south and east Austin Saturday and early Sunday, Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said at a news conference.
• Four people were shot, one person was seriously injured and three people suffered minor injuries, Davis said.
• Davis said the 15-year-old boy stole a gun from a store on Saturday. He said the 17-year-old boy had an outstanding arrest warrant for stealing a gun from the same store.
• Suspects stole more than four vehicles while driving through Austin, the chief said. “A third Hispanic male fled the car when the two juveniles were captured,” Davis said, citing the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.
• The motive for the shootings, which are still under investigation, is unknown, Davis said.
• In two of the incidents, shots were fired at separate fire stations and a truck was suddenly hit, according to Davis. Other attacks targeted residential buildings, he said.
